LCM – Music and Ideology 2 – Foucault and Boulez Reading for Lecture 7

While this is not about feminism or in the strict sense ‘Historical Ideologies’ Foucault is key thinker in the the foundation of both fields and s the reading for the next seminar is his 1985 article from Perspectives of New Music  written with composer Pierre Boulez – Contemporary Music and the Public. While the are in many ways looking at the same issues as Adorno, their Marxian (not Marxist) perspectives offers new incites and moves us through 20th century critical theory.
